Yeti today [2005-02-23] |
| |
|
| |
Welcome to the third and last part of our "Yeti History" - today we`ll talk about
the "modern" Yeti.
It was Reinhold Messner, a well-known austrian alpinist,
who claimed to have seen the Yeti during one of his expeditions. With such
a reliable witness, the scientists were divided: Some of them believed Messner
and said that his encounter was one more proof for their research, while others
countered with laughter and statements about "hallucination". Today
most of the scientists at least agree to the possibility of a "dual" Yeti:
As myth and legend of the natives, but also as an existing, but unknown animal
which has to be researched. And that`s exactly what Reinhold Messner tells
and writes today.

Yeti History, Part 2 [2005-02-14] |
| |
|
| |
Welcome to the second part ouf our scientific Yeti trilogy - this time we`ll talk about Yeti`s relatives all over the world:
Everyone knows "Bigfoot" as urban legend or as star of a quite funny TV show,
but every year several encounters are reported - and some of them come from
reliable sources. The Bigfoot is not a modern legend or the product of tricky
camera technic, even old indian legend mention him. In Canada the bigfoot is
more often referred to as "the Sasquach", which is Indian for "hairy
giant".
In Syberia there are similar rumours and reports since the begininng of the
18th century, and now some serious russian scientists are hunting a "non-extincted
successor of the missing link". There are reports from africa, too, but most
of them originate from animals we all know - the gorillas.

History lesson & online quiz: Who is Yeti? [2005-02-08] |
| |
|
| |
Welcome to the first part of our "Yeti-History-Trilogy" - today and in the next
weeks we`ll tell you the story of the legend, who became the star of millions
of players worldwide: Our Yeti! Read our "JoWooD Discovery" carefully, because
in the end there will be a quiz with prizes worth your attention - like the
authentic Yeti-T-Shirts.
The search for the real Yeti starts in the mountains of the Himalayas, where
the legend of the Yeti is familiar to every native. The people there believe
in an animal or better half-man, half-animal, which is big, white and hairy.
Examination of the Yeti Legend is part of crypto-zoology, or short "Crypto".
That`s a science which investigates reports and sightenings of extinicted or
legendary creatures. But, after all, the Yeti is not the only creature of its
kind, there are several other, similar legends all around the world. But we`ll
tell you more in the next part of our Yeti lesson...
